Bondo district

WVP Kenya currently works with 9 community groups in the Bondo district of western Kenya. Bondo district has a population of around 240 000 and borders the lake Victoria. Local industries include fishing and small-scale farming. The district is the third poorest district of Kenya and has been hard hit by the HIV epidemic. It is estimated that around 14% of people living in Bondo are infected with the virus.

Through our partner organisations, WVP Kenya supports orphaned and vulnerable children through sports and health education, educational scholarships and income generating activities. We also build the capacity of our partner communities, making them more prepared in supporting the growing number of orphaned and vulnerable children in the district.
