advocacyWe do also engage in advocacy. Primarily at a local level through World AIDS Day campaigns and our Greening Bondo Initiative. But we do also advocate at a national and international through our research and development manuals.

To encourage sustainability and draw attention to widespread environmental degradation in Western Kenya, we decided to create some awareness around the issue and at the same time plant a few trees. We have planted over 1000 trees in 5 different locations of the Bondo district. School students, community group members and other community residents got together over several weekends to plant the trees. If you come to Bondo, we will be happy to point out the trees that residents of Bondo planted with our support. We continue to encourage the planting of trees

Over the past 3 years we have been the chief organiser of World AIDS Day in the Bondo district. We mobilise all the NGOs operating in the area and we all contribute to a series of activities that take place in the week running up to World AIDS day (December 1). Thousands of people attend and participate in the sports, theatre and drama activities that have been organised to create awareness about HIV and AIDS in the region. We have distributed hundreds of t-shirts with health messages related to HIV and AIDS. Take a walk in Bondo and you will come across some of the t-shirts we have printed and distributed.
